Juvederm
Juvederm® is an injectable wrinkle filler used to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds. By replacing lost volume, the hyaluronic acid in Juvederm quickly corrects wrinkles with a simple injection.
Juvederm® comes in several different formulas to correct wrinkles of varying severity. The latest formula, Juvederm Ultra XC, contains lidocaine for a more comfortable injection.
Is Juvederm Right for You?
Juvederm is recommended for patients of all skin colors and skin types, for treatments such as:
- Facial wrinkles and folds
- Thin lips
- Marionette lines
- Hollow areas in the mid-face
Juvederm® Treatment
Placement for Juvederm is determined after carefully evaluating the wrinkles present on your face. If necessary, areas to be treated may be numbed with a topical anesthetic to make the procedure comfortable. Using a fine needle and special technique, your plastic surgeon injects Juvederm to correct the contour irregularities present on your skin.
For most patients, the results of Juvederm® last 9-12 months. You will need touch-ups and repeat treatments to maintain skin volume and wrinkle correction over the years.
What are the possible side effects of Juvederm®?
Hyaluronic acid fillers are safe and effective when administered by a qualified physician. Because Juvederm is biodegradable and doesn’t contain ingredients that cause an allergic reaction in most people, you do not need a pre-treatment allergy test. We will learn about your medical history and ask you some important health questions to make sure Juvederm is a good option for you.
Side effects are usually minor and last fewer than 7 days. You may have some redness and swelling at the treatment sites for a few days, along with mild bruising or skin firmness.
